The Peak Season

Peak tourist season in Bermuda is March through November during the other popular tropical islands' off-season. Temperatures average between 75 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit (24 and 27 degrees Celsius) Water temperatures reach as high as 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius). Summer months, the temperature is never higher than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The dating scene is more lively in the peak season; meeting people in the off-season might be more difficult. Hotels, shops, and restaurants offer their most extensive service and Resorts offer guests the most entertainment options during this time, as well. The peak season is filled with events like the National Holiday of Bermuda Day, an annual Kite Festival that takes place on Good Friday, the Peppercorn Ceremony, the annual exhibition showcasing local culture and community, and Emancipation Day Accommodations and flights should be booked two to three months in advance during the peak season. Reservations are necessary, transportation is stretched thinner, and tours are generally more crowded. Of course, the crowds can be avoided by venturing off of the beaten path.

Off Season in Bermuda is December through March. Temperatures range from 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit (18 to 21 degrees Celsius) Water temperatures reach as low as 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Visitors can expect conditions similar to those of a Northeastern spring season. While this time is not good for swimming in Bermuda, it is perfect for scuba diving, snorkeling, golf, and tennis. You may need a light jacket for evenings and early mornings, but days are pleasantly cool. The Bermuda International Race Weekend is held over the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday and offers courses ranging from the Charity Walk to the half Marathon. Events such as the Bermuda Festival for the Arts are celebrated quite extensively. Other carnivals, festivals, sailing regattas, holidays, and fishing tournaments occur throughout the year, making Bermuda a vacationer's dream year-round. Hotels and resorts may reduce their services and diminish their staff and some tours or activities may be closed altogether. Hotels also take care of any major repairs and renovations during this time. It's a good idea to call ahead to make sure you won't be staying in the midst of a construction site. Traveling at this time can be much more affordable. Hotels cut their rates from 20 to 60 percent, and tours and shops may cut prices to remain competitive. Flights and accommodations are easier to book, and access to public transportation, tee times and golf courses, tennis courts, and other enjoyable activities is easier. You may even be able to walk into an upscale restaurant and get a table without reservations. Couples will also enjoy the quiet, romantic atmosphere because there are fewer crowds and children..

Bermuda

Bermuda actually consists of six major islands and 120 smaller surrounding islands. The information below focuses on the six largest islands. Island Description St. George's Island This island was the site of one of the earliest British colonies in the New World. The largest city on the island, also named St. George, was Bermuda's original capital. Today the island is full of museums and historic sights. St. David's Island One of the more rustic islands, this is an excellent spot to view the simple, seafaring lifestyle led by locals. Main Island Main Island is home to the capital city of Hamilton. It is also the major tourist hub, and most vacationers spend the majority of their time here. Somerset Island This island is connected to the main island by the world's smallest drawbridge. At 22 inches wide, it is large enough to admit only the mast of a large ship. Once on the island, visitors can experience a cozy little village disturbed only by a single road running through the town. Boaz Island Tiny Boaz Island is situated between Somerset and Ireland Islands, and is the perfect picturesque stop for an authentic Bermudian lunch or cocktail. Ireland Island Home to several art galleries and local craft centers, this island makes a nice day trip to escape the hustle and bustle of Main Island.

Visitors should interact with islanders; many locals will be offended if you fail to ask “how are you ?” Travelers should also get in the habit of saying hello ! Wear casual or formal clothing appropriate to the restaurant. A sun dress, shirt and shorts are acceptable in the shops and on town streets, Bermuda shorts are considered suitable attire for nearly any occasion. Beachwear is considered inappropriate anywhere except on the beach.

More about Weather

There is no actual rainy season in Bermuda, showers tend to be very intense but short and quick. There's a slightly higher chance of rain during the peak season (summer and fall). Travelers shouldn't be worried, as storms rarely cost travelers an entire day.
The hurricane season officially lasts from June 1 to November 30. This is really not a reason to change your plans because more hurricanes hit the U.S. mainland than Bermuda. And with today's meteorological technology, there should be more than enough warning to take proper precautions in the case of storm.
January and February can be chilly, temps go down to 55 degrees

When and Where

Travel between December and April, Caribbean's peak season, brings higher prices. Summertime brings rains and hurricane season will offer lower prices. The most expensive travel prices are found on major holidays: New Year's Eve, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter. Travelers on cruises can spend some time on pre-arranged shore excursions, which usually run between $25(USD) and $100(USD) for items like snorkeling and scuba diving, horseback riding, golfing, and even tours. They are available when you book, or when you board.
|
Cost

Don’t forget to factor in airfare to reach your cruise's departure destination unless it is also included. The additional fees are beverages, shore excursions, and - if it's not included - a final tip. A single occupancy rate is higher than double occupancy. However, this doesn't mean that you can't know what to budget.
